The kite runner

"It was the most awaited movie of the year" say it in a deep voice ..and view the trailer. I think, it is better you watch the trailer only and read the book. In movie making the director and script writer have to make many choices and I think they made the wrong choices in this movie. So of the things which strike me are

1. They have like 4 shots / setting of Afganistan which are repeated through out the movie. The good news is you can see those shots free in the trailer.
2. It does give a glimpse of traditional Asian culture and how they adjust especially when displaced.
3. The movie had strong basis where it was trying to build the characters of the two friends. It was a human story where friendship is stabbed again and again by the weaknesses of one friend. And you keep hoping (well the trailer tells you) that this person will realize this. He probably does but the motivations are not friendship but they get jumbled up into paying for a father's wrong doing and blood relations. I think, at this point - we should be focusing on human values of genuine brotherhood instead of building cultural & social frameworks which often make people do certain things. We need to focus on goodness which doesn't need motives and building old bridges , facing your demons out of free will.

So in summary, I would say wait for the DVD don't run to theater to watch this movie. It is definitely a single view movie.

Happy Feet

"Zoos are important for preserving our biological diversity." , a text book , a teacher to a child, a 5 year child reinforced by logic when a teen...what do you think? I could never say in worlds ...the movie delivers a powerful human message in 5 minutes. Zoos may be sanctuary but they are not natural and they are impositions on animals ...

The movie is great - in terms of message it delivers - I recommended owning the DVD.

Now, on continuing the thread above. Are zoos bad? Well they are not bad but they are not the ideal answer either - national parks are - paying the price for preserving the biological diversity may be hard but in my opinion it is the right thing to do.. so what about the animals in the zoos should we abandon then or the ones born in capitivity ?

everything Illuminated

my dad once said to me - if you either love or hate something - it correlates into spending time thinking about it. Unknowingly enough we think so much about it that we become a part of it. This movie is about it, in way, everything is illuminated in the light of your past.

A movie full of expressions and very few dialogues. Yet each dialogue has sensibility often many of us loose in our rational world. I mean why does any one do any thing? sometimes there isn;t a reason - it is simply what helpd you define the world for you or you

Good movie must see
